Itinerary
Day 1: International Arrival in Lima
Greeting by the bilingual team at Jorge Chávez International Airport.
Private transfer to the hotel located in the tourist district of Miraflores.
Check-in and free afternoon to rest or walk along the boardwalk overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Lodging: Lima.
Day 2: Historic Center and Modern District of Lima
Breakfast at the hotel.
Tour of the Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Lima Cathedral, and the San Francisco Convent with its underground catacombs.
Stroll through the financial district of San Isidro and the Park of Love in Miraflores.
Free time for lunch at a seafood or traditional Peruvian restaurant.

Day 3: Flight to Cusco and City Orientation
Breakfast and private transfer to the Lima airport.
Domestic flight to Cusco (flight duration: 1 hour and 20 minutes).
Welcome at Velasco Astete Airport and transfer to the hotel.
Welcome coca tea to assist with high-altitude acclimation (11,150 ft / 3,400 m.a.s.l.).
Free afternoon to explore the artisan neighborhood of San Blas and the Plaza de Armas at a relaxed pace.

Day 4: Sacred Valley of the Incas (Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Train)

Day 5: Machu Picchu Citadel and Return to Cusco

Bus ride down to Aguas Calientes with free time for lunch.
Return train ride to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station.

Day 6: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)
Early morning departure (04:30 AM) from your hotel in Cusco.
Ride via tourist bus toward the community of Cusipata, including a buffet breakfast.
Guided hike or ascent to the summit viewpoint of Vinicunca Mountain (16,470 ft / 5,020 m.a.s.l.).
Rest, take panoramic photos of the Ausangate mountain range, and return to the base point.

The itinerary is planned progressively. Upon arrival in Cusco (11,150 ft / 3,400 m.a.s.l.), the afternoon is left free with coca tea provided for rest. The following day descends to the Sacred Valley (9,186 ft / 2,800 m.a.s.l.) and Aguas Calientes (6,692 ft / 2,040 m.a.s.l.), reserving the highest-altitude hike (Vinicunca at 16,470 ft / 5,020 m.a.s.l.) for the sixth day, when your body is fully adapted.
What luggage should I bring on the train to Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu?
Train companies (PeruRail / Inca Rail) only allow passengers to board with one piece of hand luggage or a small daypack weighing a maximum of 11 lbs (5 kg) per person. Large travel luggage remains stored safely and free of charge at your hotel in Cusco until your return.
Does the Rainbow Mountain tour require full hiking on foot?
The hike on foot takes about 1.5 to 2 hours of continuous uphill walking along a trail. If a traveler prefers not to walk the entire way, local residents offer horse rental services for the ascent at an exact cost of $25 USD each way.
